What is Somatic Experiencing (SE)?

The Somatic Experiencing® (SE) method is a body-based approach to trauma healing which acknowledges that stressful experiences can manifest  physiologically. Laura also incorporates tools and interventions from Diane Poole Heller's DARe (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience) training and Dr. Raja Selvam's Integral Somatic Psychology training, where she shows you how your attachment styles and emotional adaptations can make you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns, emotional pain and distress and how to shift things for the better. 

The Basis for SE

Many people experience some kind of trauma in their lives, resulting from a variety of stressors such as accidents, medical procedures, sexual or physical assault, spiritual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, war, natural disasters, loss, oppression, birth trauma, or ongoing fear and conflict.

The definition of trauma is the nervous system's perception of an experience that is either:

1. Too much too fast.

2. Not enough for too long. 
 

Stress from these traumatic experiences can live on in the body long after the initial experience is over, as we can get "stuck" in our feelings of overwhelm or shock. This lingering, incomplete stress response can then result in an impaired ability to function. 
 

The Somatic Experiencing approach offers tools to resolve this incomplete and fixed energy, thus alleviating trauma symptoms. 
 

Laura is a trained SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner). She offers sessions via phone or Zoom. House calls and nature walks are available on a case-by-case basis for established clients in Atlantic Beach, FL and surrounding areas.

Appointments are currently mostly via Zoom.

House calls and nature walks are available on a case-by-case basis for established clients in Atlantic Beach, FL and surrounding areas.

They are 60 minutes long, and the cost is $195 per one-hour session. I do not accept insurance.

*10 Pack of Sessions: $1900 ($1850 Full Pay Rate) - 3 to 5 Month Healing Container 

*20 Pack of Sessions: $3700 ($3450 Full Pay Rate) - 9 to 12 Month Healing Container
